BMX, or Bicycle Motocross, is a sport performed on small, single-speed bikes over tracks that consist of dirt hills, jumps, and sharp turns. Riders perform tricks and stunts while racing against each other or against the clock. BMX is a popular sport for both children and adults, and there are many different BMX racing and freestyle disciplines.

There are two main types of BMX: racing and freestyle.

BMX Racing
BMX racing is a competitive sport in which riders race against each other on a BMX track. BMX tracks are typically 300 to 400 meters long and consist of dirt hills, jumps, and sharp turns. Riders start at the top of a starting gate and race to the finish line. BMX racing is a fast-paced and exciting sport that requires a lot of skill and athleticism.

BMX Freestyle

BMX freestyle is a non-competitive sport in which riders perform tricks and stunts on a BMX bike. There are many different BMX freestyle disciplines, including:

Dirt: Riders perform tricks on dirt jumps and ramps.
Park: Riders perform tricks on a BMX park, which is a concrete or metal structure with ramps, rails, and other obstacles.
Street: Riders perform tricks on street obstacles, such as stairs, handrails, and benches.
Flatland: Riders perform tricks on flat ground, without using any obstacles.

BMX originated in Southern California in the early 1970s. BMX bikes were originally modified cruiser bikes that were ridden on dirt tracks and off-road trails. The first BMX race was held in 1971 in Long Beach, California. BMX quickly became a popular sport, and by the 1980s, there were BMX races being held all over the world. BMX was added to the Olympic Games in 2008.

BMX Safety
BMX is a safe sport when participants take the necessary precautions. Always wear a helmet and other protective gear, such as knee pads, elbow pads, and gloves. Ride in a safe area and be aware of your surroundings. Be sure to follow the rules of the track or park where you are riding.
